SANDTON
Sandton Convention
Sandton is a very young municipality, formed on the 1 July 1969. It lies on the northern side of Johannesburg and got its name from a combination of the two suburbs of Sandown and Bryanston.

In this way a new and exclusive suburban centre was established, while at the same time maintaining the park-like residential areas of the two surrounding suburbs.

Sandton is the financial hub of Africa. It is known as 'the richest square mile' in Africa. Most major financial institutions have set up headquarters in Sandton and it is also the home to most of the big names in Information Technology. It is home of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Dimension Data Campus while major local and international events are held on a regular basis at the Sandton Convention Centre.

It has abundances of shopping centers including Montecasino and Sandton City complemented by the now famous Mandela Square hosting some excellent restaurants. The suburbs of Sandton include Rivonia and Marlboro.
